- Position Summary
- The Shift Lead (PHI – Afternoon/Evening) is responsible for supporting daily warehouse operations through a hybrid leadership structure. From 12–5pm, this role functions as an Area Manager, working directly with the PHI Warehouse Lead to manage workflows, oversee specific operational areas, and execute hands-on tasks. From 5–8pm, this role becomes the Acting Warehouse Lead, serving as the primary authority in the warehouse and ensuring all end-of-day responsibilities are achieved.
- The Shift Lead plays a key developmental role within the warehouse leadership team and serves as the second-in-command to the PHI Warehouse Lead. This position is essential to maintaining continuity, quality, throughput, and accountability across the afternoon and evening hours.
- Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- 12–5pm | Area Manager Responsibilities
- Work closely with the PHI Warehouse Lead to prioritize and manage daily workflows across assigned operational areas.
- Execute hands-on warehouse tasks including receiving, putaway, picking, packing, inventory control, replenishment, and cycle counts.
- Support “Get to Zero” by ensuring all orders, returns, and refurbishments are completed and products are in their designated locations by the end of the day.
- Assist in coordinating inbound and outbound logistics to ensure timely processing of deliveries and returns.
- Monitor accuracy, throughput, and SLA adherence within assigned areas, addressing issues promptly.
- Maintain an organized, safe warehouse environment, ensuring all items—including RTM materials—are correctly logged and stored.
- Resolve operational roadblocks quickly and escalate when needed.
- Identify process gaps and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives led by the Warehouse Lead.
5–8pm | Acting Warehouse Lead Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary on-site authority over warehouse operations during evening hours.
- Direct team members to complete remaining orders, returns, and quality checks to ensure end-of-day “Get to Zero” goals.
- Manage area workflows, task assignments, and resource allocation to maintain operational momentum.
- Oversee adherence to SOPs, quality standards, and safety requirements across all activities.
- Address and resolve escalations, operational exceptions, and workflow bottlenecks in real time.
- Ensure accurate documentation, QC procedures, and compliance with established processes.
- Provide end-of-day reporting and handoff notes to the PHI Warehouse Lead and next-day leadership.
- Serve as the evening escalation point for cross-functional partners (Support, Procurement, Engineering, Accounts) as necessary.
Qualifications
- Ensure consistent adherence to SOPs across all shifts, modeling best-practice behaviors for associates.
- Assist in identifying opportunities to improve quality, accuracy, and efficiency across warehouse processes.
- Monitor and document QC activities and ensure corrective actions are implemented appropriately.
- Participate in projects aimed at improving KPIs such as accuracy, throughput, SLA performance, and inventory integrity.
