We’re looking for a Director of Finance with the vision and drive to build Lily AI’s finance and accounting function at a time of enormous growth. The right fit here is someone able to roll up their sleeves and do the work, while also building and managing the team over time. This is a mix of accounting, FP&A, and corporate finance, and thus you should have experience in accounting and financial planning and analysis in enterprise SaaS companies. Enterprise SaaS experience is essential.

In this role, you will:

  • Drive the annual financial planning process and partner with the executive and leadership teams to set and monitor short and long term goals
  • Identify and implement the proper accounting and financial systems required to scale
  • Develop, and update monthly, a three statement model reflecting multiple scenarios
  • Establish and monitor metrics appropriate for a vertical AI business
  • Through the lens of financial performance, provide regular commentary and insights to the executive team and Board of Directors
  • Lead monthly and quarterly financial close process, including variance analysis
  • Over time, build and scale an end-to-end team: Accounting, FP&A, Treasury, Investor Relations
  • Aid in capital raising processes
  • Oversee various financial documentation and compliance such as engagement with 409a valuation providers and ensuring tax returns are filed
  • Serve as the key contact for audits and reporting

What we consider critical for this role:

  • Objectivity, empathy, humility, analytical thinking, and organizational capabilities
  • 10+ years of experience in accounting, corporate finance, investment banking, financial consulting, private equity, or venture capital
  • 3+ years working in a startup
  • Enterprise SaaS company experience
  • Knowledge of financial software tools, facility with Excel/Google Sheets, and excellence in working with and communicating about numbers
  • Strong modeling skills and willingness to “do” (e.g., model, monitor metrics) now, with the understanding that we will build support and the team over time
  • Adept at communicating complex information simply; bonus points for strong storytelling skills
  • Excitement to join an AI startup and put in the hustle required to get things done! (this does not mean working around the clock, but it does mean long hours, on occasion)
